God Rewards Richly

“For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” Heb. 6:10.

God is our good and just employer; He richly rewards each service that is performed unselfishly in His name. God is extremely zealous against keeping back the laborer’s reward. “Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.” Jas. 5:4. God will most certainly see to it that not a single laborer will cry out because he was either rewarded or treated unjustly by Him.

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.” Rev. 22:12. Just as every laborer looks forward to payday, so every true servant of Christ has good reason to look forward to that day.

We are heirs of promise (Heb. 6:17), and it is beneath our dignity to be on the lookout for honor and gain in this world. We must be fully aware of the fact that we are employed in God’s service with everything that we say and do. Then we will be set free from every kind of disappointment, because we do not expect anything from people. We love, serve, and give according to God’s working and expect our reward from Him.

“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him . . . .” “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” Col. 3:17; 23-24.

If someone underpays us, steals from us, scolds us, and spreads all kinds of lies about us, Christ follows along very carefully and will give us a heavenly reward for everything we have sacrificed and suffered for His name’s sake. We cannot lose anything, nor can anyone harm us, except that it is for our eternal good. 1 Pet. 3:13.

“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matt. 5:12-13. Jesus Himself suffered patiently, looking forward to the joy that was set before Him. Heb. 12:2.

It is possible for a God-fearing and faithful wife to have a husband who is not saved. She is in submission to him, as the Scriptures enjoin her, and endures in all good works. Even if she does not receive a single word of thanks from her husband, but on the contrary meets with evil from him, she has no reason to be discouraged. The great payday is near, and she will receive eternal thanks and glory in the heavenly mansions where the reward for faithful endurance is exceedingly great.

The things that God has prepared for those who love Him have not yet entered the heart of man. 1 Cor. 2:9. “Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech . . . .” 2 Cor. 3:12.
