Servants of Righteousness
In Romans 6:18 we read the following: “And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.” It will be evident in everything in your life when you have become a servant of righteousness.
Jesus was a servant of righteousness. For example, when the scribes and Pharisees came to Him with the woman who was caught in adultery and set her before Him, saying, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” John 8:3-6. Then the servant of righteousness was revealed. Not only did Jesus save the woman from death, but He also freed the scribes and the Pharisees from committing a merciless act. Their malice could not persuade Jesus to commit an evil act; on the contrary, He lovingly helped them out of their difficult situation. Now they had an opportunity to witness the love and goodness that proceeds from a servant of righteousness. Glory to God and to the Lamb!
Peter exhorts wives to be “submissive to their own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives” when they observe their wives’ chaste conduct accompanied by fear. Their beauty is “the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” 1 Pet. 3:1-2, 4. It is also very precious in the eyes of people; it has a good effect not only on themselves but on all the others who are so fortunate as to come into contact with them.
Here we see a servant of righteousness in action again. The woman bears not only her unbelieving husband’s many quirks and whims, but she also loves her husband and does not permit the tempter to gain a foothold. She is precious in the sight of God! I want to see the man who can “resist” such a servant of righteousness!
This glorious way is open to every woman and man. You are blessed if you break through all barriers in faith and become a servant of righteousness. Such servants are the best revival preachers.
