Wisdom—Glory
“For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” Heb. 2:10.
Jesus leads many people to glory. What, then, is this glory? This glory consists of the virtues of Christ—the fruit of the Spirit. Gal. 5:22. These virtues encompass all of God’s glory. Everything that man calls glory that is outside the virtues of Christ is a deception and only a momentary enjoyment of sin.
It is the virtues of Christ that make Him glorious, and it is these same virtues that make us glorious. When we are being brought to glory, we are brought to the virtues of Christ. Therefore we read in the next verse that we have to be sanctified to be called Jesus’ brethren. In Romans 8:29 we read about being conformed to the image of the Son that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
We shall rule together with Christ for a thousand years on this earth. Then, as now, there will be people with flesh and blood. What will be the difference? The difference will be that Satan will be bound and sin will be gone. Those who govern now have to be talented and educated. They do their best, but they cannot make peace. The most intelligent people put their heads together and try their best, but they cannot make peace.
God has chosen the foolish things of the world, the things that are weak, and the things that are despised. 1 Cor. 1:26-29. Jesus will rule with these chosen ones, and there will be peace. How can they receive such wisdom? They are usually not particularly talented or intelligent. They will have received this wisdom through the virtues of Christ of which they have partaken. The virtues make us wise; vices make us stupid. Troubles arise because people seek their own and get angry. He who does not love his brother is in darkness and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1 John 2:10-11.
The more we partake of the virtues of Christ, the more we also partake of wisdom. We do not need clever minds or worldly wisdom to get these virtues. All of us have equal opportunity in this area. When Jesus comes, He will not ask for any other wisdom than the wisdom we have gained through the virtues of Christ. With this wisdom we will rule so that each one will sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid. Micah 4:4.
There isn’t any other wisdom to be found in our days than the wisdom we receive through the virtues of Christ. Everything else is darkness. Consequently, we can see among these clever minds and educated people that there is strife and divorce in their homes if they do not possess these virtues. It is only through the virtues of Christ that we can receive wisdom to rule our homes and in the church.
Many people believe that they can do some good by getting angry and lying, but it is deception. “A man is not established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous cannot be moved.” Prov. 12:3. It is also difficult to understand how goodness and severity can be united, also mercy and truth. Rom. 11:22. But the person who possesses these virtues understands it and has wisdom, and then all things fall into place.
We have been chosen to proclaim the virtues of Christ (1 Pet. 2:9), and the Millennium is established among those who believe and receive it. This is the church. Our homes and the church are proof of wisdom through the virtues of Christ—even in times when Satan is on the loose and we are surrounded by ungodly people. How much greater will the glory be when Satan is bound and the ungodly have been eradicated?
Now is the time when we will be brought to this glory; but if we see something else as glorious, we have a divided heart. Then the god of this world has blinded us so that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ does not shine on us. 2 Cor. 4:4.
May God give grace that the light of the glory of Christ—the virtues—may shine from us, and that there may be much wisdom in our midst.
