Two Opposing Life Principles
1) People arrange their lives according to “all the rules of the game,” as if they were to continue this existence forever (cultural and social development and improvement is basically based on this wrong principle), even though people can constantly know and see that this is not so. People frequently read about deaths and have attended various funerals themselves, with none of those who passed away being several hundred years old, or even a few thousand years!!!
People act as if they are absent-minded; they have not learned to count or number their days in any sense of the word. They can count money and other things, but they have definitely not learned to number their days.
They push the thought of death stubbornly and with a hard heart into the background as if it were foolish to think about the fact that they will soon have to leave this earth, whether they want to or not!
Almost every person, including believers, belongs to this class of fools. Back out of it as soon as possible and no longer remain among these foolish virgins!
2) Always be prepared to leave this earth. Prepare yourself for the journey. Do not pound the “tent pegs” deep into the ground. Because you reckon on leaving this earth fairly soon, you order your life simply and flexibly, thinking about what you should arrange before your departure and about “everything” you should take along.
Almost your entire life will change if you follow this life-principle, which is quite unlike the norm. You will think differently, speak differently, and act differently.
It would be a different matter if we were to continue on this earth indefinitely. However, now it is just prior to our departure from this earth, and we will never again return to this existence.
This is how the very few think who have to some extent learned to number their days. Then you count like this: 1, 2, 3! Soon we will be finished with this forever! Adieu! Adieu! Adieu! Farewell to the earth! You are ready to travel when you overcome and are triumphant over all conscious sin, pursuing sanctification in all areas. Then we are also in a proper relationship to everything and everyone, and we have nothing unresolved with anyone.
