The Anointing Teaches Us All Things
“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.” 1 John 2:20.
“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” V. 27.
“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power,” and He still anoints His servants with the Holy Spirit who is to teach us all things. However, it is evident although many people have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, they don’t even understand the basics. The Corinthians didn’t realize they were babes and carnal when they argued about whom they should follow, whether Paul or Apollos. Therefore we read that we shall abide in the anointing.
Moreover, an ointment consists of several things. We read about the perfumer in Ecclesiastes 10:1. They were to make a certain oil that consisted of various spices for anointing the tabernacle. Ex. 30:23.
The Holy Spirit is the perfumer. If we allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit will be manifested. These fruits are the most excellent spices, such as we read about in Galatians 5:22. If we mix them together, they will be an excellent ointment. We are to abide in this anointing. It shall teach us all things. We no longer need to run from one to another in the situations that we encounter during the day to receive instructions. Not at all! The anointing will teach us all things.
We read in Job 15:5: “Your sin puts words into your mouth.” The virtues, likewise, put words into our mouth. “The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Rom. 5:5. If we abide in love, love will instruct us. If we abide in joy, patience, gentleness, righteousness, goodness, etc., these fruits of the Spirit will teach us how we should act toward awkward and contrary people and how we should use our earthly possessions. They give us the wisdom that is from above; but sin gives us the wisdom that is from below. Jas. 3:13-17.
“Who is this coming out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all the merchant’s fragrant powders?” Song of Sol. 3:6. It is the bride. You couldn’t smell any smoke from these pillars of smoke, but rather the most glorious spices. We shall also be baptized with fire. Consequently, our “I” must become a pillar of smoke if these virtues are to be manifested. Therefore Paul says, “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Then these spices, these fruits of the Spirit, will come forth. All of them together will become a glorious salve in which we shall live and with which we are to anoint the others. There must not be a lid on the ointment jar, as it says in a song.
When the bride put her hand on the door latch this salve dripped on the handles. Song of Sol. 5:5. The door latch did not creak. Because of a lack of ointment people end up in difficulties as soon as they have to deal with each other. However, these creaks vanish if just one person has sufficient ointment.
It is impossible to put anything of what is written in Galatians 5:19-21 together with verse 22. If you live in verse 22, everything that is written in verses 19-21 has vanished. This is how glorious the anointing of the Spirit is. Let us abide in it, brothers and sisters! Then we possess the wisdom that is from above and are always happy and blessed, and it is good in our surroundings.
