Since We Know the Fear of the Lord, We Seek to Win Men
The intention of these words is clearly this: Since we ourselves were saved purely by grace, we can expect to be asked, before Christ’s judgment seat, about the tremendous effort that we have exerted in helping others to partake of the same salvation. Having to answer that we have done very little, or perhaps almost nothing, will be quite terrible.
If we are not that capable of preaching God’s Word, couldn’t we at least be zealous to invite people to come and listen to those who preach God’s Word in truth and spirit?
What excuse do you have for not doing this on a regular basis?
By the same token, if you have not written tracts, brochures, or books yourself, what excuse do you have for not spreading the good articles that others have written and have printed?
The fact that one is inactive in this matter testifies of self-love, even of “death in the pot.”
When such people look over the writings on display on the literature rack, they might say something like this: “I have read that, and I have read that, and I am sure I have read all the rest.”
They speak as if there was no one else in this world!?
They don’t get this splendid idea that there is something that is called living for others, and something that is called winning men, and something else that is called, “Give a serving to seven, and also to eight,” and, “In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand . . . .” Read Ecclesiastes, Chapter 11!
