Absolutely Certain—Quite Sure

What is it that is so unshakably certain and sure? In any case, it is not the usual, human talk! It is the entire Word of God and His work! The promises are very sure. There is nothing about them that is vague or uncertain. Likewise, all the conditions that must be fulfilled before you can receive what has been promised are just as sure. It is all either / or!

Either you believe the promises or you do not believe them. There is no way in between!

Faith is full assurance! It is absolutely sure!!! Heb. 11:1. Being half assured or almost assured is unbelief.

All salvation occurs by faith. Either our sins are blotted out with absolute certainty, or they are definitely not blotted out. Either we live an overcoming life with absolute certainty, or we do not overcome. For, it happens only by faith and faith is full assurance.

This also applies when it concerns clear conditions. First of all, they are always very plain and clear and unambiguous. Secondly, you have either fully and completely and emphatically fulfilled them, or you have absolutely not fulfilled them. In God’s eyes there is nothing in between.

The fact that you have almost fulfilled them all unfortunately indicates that you have not fulfilled them. This is precisely why you have not really received what God’s Word promises either.

Most so-called confessing Christians are absolutely not Christ’s disciples, for no one can be His disciple unless he hates . . . his own life also, forsaking all that he has. Luke 14:26-33. Unfortunately, only a few people fit this definition.

If you asked believers, “Are you crucified with Christ?” or, “Are you always victorious over all conscious sin?” you will, practically speaking, not receive a completely affirmative reply. It will almost always be an uncertain reply, and for good reason, because people usually do not have living faith in this area; and of course faith is full assurance.

Untrustworthy documents, untrustworthy people, and uncertain understanding—this is a sad state. God’s work and God’s Word are rock solid, effective, glorious things!

Salvation is described as a building, among other things. There brick after brick or beam after beam is laid down securely to lie there firmly and always. Imagine if the stones or the beams should give way?

Everything that pertains to salvation is firm and definitive. There is nothing that sways or is uncertain. A brick in the building is either placed or it is not placed. If it is put in its place it remains there always. Glory to God who builds in our lives and in the church in truth!
