Delight
The fact that my lot is delightful is very glorious, and it is unfortunate that not many people can truly say that. In one way, the Swedish Bible translation of this verse is even stronger. There it is written: “An inheritance has befallen me in a blessed place.”
Delight is one of the strongest and most glorious expressions we have for happiness. Most people seldom or never taste any heavenly delight, while some taste it often.
Only the very few—unfortunately—have received a lot and an inheritance in the midst of heavenly delight; they live there, are filled by it and are abundantly surrounded by it.
The fiery darts of the devil and man’s wickedness do not reach them, so they are no longer plagued as other men.
They are, figuratively speaking, far away in a place where there is only delight and goodness, surrounded by walls, the one outside of the other.
The tumult and wickedness of the world is heard only as a faint sound in the distance. Within these walls are unbroken thankfulness and worship; there you always learn something and constantly benefit from all that you hear and see. There you have only income, so that after all is said and done, the only math needed is addition.
There people are always forgiving and forbearing, if there is even a need for it.
There you are truly free and liberated and happy. There you are being sanctified in truth by going from light to light. There, in the land of blessedness, yes, there it is pleasant and there it is festive!
There are no sour faces because there are no sour people. All such people are far away, outside of delight and its walls.
The apostle Paul says it with these words: “And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Eph. 2:6.
Welcome to the land of blessedness, all you who have not yet come! Yes, do what you can and come soon!
