Only a New Creation

Nothing else counts; nothing else will do! Nothing else represents the essence of the new covenant! Taking care of the old, improving the old, decorating the old, making it look good and sound nice—all of it is obsolete! It has been replaced by the new creation!

Ceremonies are no longer of any significance. It is a gross misunderstanding to attribute any real significance to such things now. The apostle’s words are very clear and very strong: “[Only] a new creation.”

These glorious words are usually completely overlooked or used extremely superficially.

It is useless to educate and train the old. Only a new creation is of any use. God loves to create something new, but only on condition that the heart is completely surrendered and has forsaken everything of its own, everything that is old. All believers believe that a new creation is imminent, but only on the threshold of eternity and on resurrection morning.

However, there is a sad lack of faith in the new creation that occurs now in our inner man, in the days of our flesh. You see that clearly with your eyes and hear it clearly with your ears.

Unfortunately, there is not much more than the manifestation of the old, sinful nature that you see and hear wherever you are in this world. You hear that old tune practically everywhere.

What an unspeakable blessing it is when this song disappears, when it is replaced by the heavenly, glorious, noble acts and the heavenly, soothing, pure, delightful words and sounds of the new creation!

May there be many new creations in these days!
