We Declare to You That Eternal Life

1 John 1:2

This was quite some declaration! Where shall people go these days to hear such a declaration? Almost everywhere you go you actually hear death being preached; i.e., that it is impossible for a person to keep God’s commandments, to obey the words of Scripture, to live as one ought to live according to God’s will. Their preaching is based on their personal unfaithfulness, making this their guideline for souls. They think that it is impossible to live in the true sense of the Word. They are preaching death instead of life. The only thing they can actually invite people to is the forgiveness of sins—forgiveness for not having life, because life is lacking.

This is the point: People absolutely do not believe in life while they are in this body of death. They do not expect real life before they have passed on. This is precisely the usual, unspeakably big mistake. Instead of living churches of God, they are congregations of the dead, as it is written. Prov. 21:16. Instead of holy members, they are unholy members. Instead of “the congregation of the righteous” (Ps. 1), they are the congregation of the unrighteous. Instead of having been children of wrath before, just as the others (Eph. 2:3), they continue to be children of wrath, just like the others, etc.

In general, they never believed in the possibility of a true life—divine nature—while they are in this body, or they have lost this faith and have forever given up all hope of realizing this faith during their time of living in this body of death, in spite of the fact that this is the very thing the Scriptures speak about everywhere. Life and immortality have been brought to light by Jesus Christ. 2 Tim. 1:10. Glory to God!

The way to real life is simple, clear, and narrow. It has been consecrated and is open to everyone. It is cross, death, and grave over everything of our own through a living faith in Christ’s work—everything, no separating, no bargaining, no explaining away, no ceremonies; only openness and honesty, a short process, right to the point, first in its entirety, and then in detail. This is legitimate; it makes no allowance for exception and failure either in its entirety or in each individual detail.

Every thought, every word, every step we take is either sinful (belongs to death) or godly (life!). The motive is either carnal or spiritual (godly). Either we do God’s will in each single instance, or we do our own will. We cannot do both at the same time.

It is no wonder people who worship God are not interested in life itself, seeing that they absolutely do not believe that the intention is for this to be realized during this dispensation. However, this is precisely what we are called to. It shall succeed! Glory to God!
