It Is High Time That We Perfected Our Sanctification
Those events that we knew beforehand would happen according to the Scriptures, but had not yet taken place, have now transpired, as we have witnessed. The Jews have returned to their land. God be praised for that! Now that mocking question that is mentioned in Peter will soon be silenced: “Where is the promise of His coming?” 2 Pet. 3:4. The return of Christ will soon be an accomplished fact. Before we realize it, He will be here to fetch those who are ready—those pure, mature virgins.
Being ready is not something that takes place in a few moments. It must necessarily take some time. Therefore it is high time to begin to think seriously about making an effort to perfect our sanctification during the time that remains, so that when He comes, we may be found by Him pure and blameless, without spot and wrinkle or any such thing, in peace and joy.
In the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus emphasizes strongly that it takes time. Matt. 25. We can see this so clearly by noticing how, after the cry went out, the foolish (stupid) virgins’ great zeal turned out to be in vain because they were too late! There was not enough time left!
It is written about the foolish virgins that: 1) They awoke! 2) They arose! 3) They trimmed their lamps! 4) They asked for oil! 5) They really went to buy oil! There was great haste in the matter—but it was too late!!!
The bride is to be formed, and that takes time. She is to be perfected through sufferings, which takes time.
In order to be conformed to Christ—her Bridegroom—the bride must surrender her self-life into death on every point, and that takes time.
What a meeting that will soon be for all those who have been transformed into the image of Christ down through the ages! What a sight! What glory! What company!!! God will give us the grace and power that are required.
