A Veiled or an Unveiled Face

2 Corinthians 3:16, 18

The veil is taken away when we are converted so that we can behold the glory of the Lord with unveiled face and be transformed into the same glory, which will then fill our hearts and minds, our life and our actions.

It is no wonder a person is not transformed when he does not behold the heavenly glory of the Lord. And it is no wonder a person does not behold the glory but only rules and commandments and demands (you shall and you must, and you must not do either one thing or another), only never-ending judgment after judgment, when their eyes are completely veiled, when they are not converted on one point after another so that all the veils are removed!

The covetous, greedy, miserly, anxious person, etc., views all the glorious words about giving away, sharing with others, distributing, lending without expecting anything in return, forgiving debt, remembering the poor, denying oneself, being content, etc., etc., as some “bogeymen” that want to take from him what he has come by honestly.

However, as soon as the heart is converted from all this self-love, unbelief, and ungodliness, God Himself resolutely takes the veil away!!! And what does the person then see with an unveiled face? He immediately sees the glory of the Lord, the glory in and through the laws of the Spirit of life, the glory of the divine nature, and little by little, His manifold glory. In this context it concerns the glory of letting others have what is mine—from the heart and with joy.

It is precisely the same in all other areas. We get to see the glory of always speaking the exact truth, in submitting ourselves, in suffering injustice, in being longsuffering, etc. How prudent it is then to be converted on each single point!

It is no wonder that people are not showing a lively interest in reading the Bible all the time they are walking around with a heavy veil over their eyes.
