The Stone—Rejected but Precious
“Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious . . . .” 1 Pet. 2:4.
To begin with, all of us are in the hands of men—in the hands of family and friends. Come to Him—to Jesus! Do not come to family and friends to find your way, but come to Jesus. You will be rejected by men if you are willing to be led by Him. Do not fear; you will simply be cast into God’s hand. You have no strength for as long as you are in the hands of men, but you will receive strength if you come into God’s hand.
“You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.” Dan. 2:34-35.
When you come to Jesus, you are set free from the idol—the kingdoms of the world that people raise up for themselves—and you will be fitted into the living stone. One day this living stone will be thrown back by God’s hand; then you will crush the entire work of man, and you will fill the entire earth.
This exhortation can still be heard: Come to Him!
