The Blessings of the Lord Make Rich!
“The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” Prov. 10:22.
This is an unshakable truth, and we will be spared many troubles and anxieties if we live our lives according to this divine law of life.
The living creatures had the hands of a man under their wings. Ezek. 1:8. We who have our life in Christ must have our hands within the body of Christ, led by His noble mind; we must not stretch them out in anxiety and unbelief to this world’s goods. All true riches, honor, power, glory, and blessing are in the body of Christ, and everything outside of it is darkness and vanity and is under a curse.
In these days many Christians have fallen prey to the anxieties of the world and the deceitfulness of riches, and as a result the Word has been choked in their hearts so that it does not bear fruit. They strive and toil and are a curse to their own homes. Their entire life is a race without peace and rest from early morning till late at night. The children in such a home have the feeling that they are totally superfluous and that they would be far better off in the streets. All this hustling and bustling never gets these people enough, and they never have enough money or food. Whenever there is a meeting, they are always busy with so many “absolutely necessary” things that they hardly ever have time for it.
“Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Consider your ways! You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes.’” Hag. 1:5-6.
This is precisely how it goes because of their striving. There is never sufficient money or food. The fruit of all this is nervousness, bitterness, and misery.
Jesus said, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42.
There are many such “Martha-Christians.” They have time and a sense for many things, but they have little or no time for the one thing that is necessary. They run their own lives and thus exclude God’s blessing from their lives. Their treasure houses speak of something totally different than a fullness of God’s wisdom.
“‘Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,’ says the Lord. ‘You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house.’” Hag. 1:8-9.
Let us go up to the mountains, high above all the noise and pursuits of this world, and fetch precious beams for the house of the Lord from the spirit world where everything is pure and clear as crystal. These precious beams are wisdom, love, righteousness, joy, peace, rest, thankfulness, patience, etc. If we build this house and dwell in it, the Lord God of hosts will magnify Himself to us, and His pleasure will be over us. This house is a peaceful habitation, a secure dwelling, and a carefree resting-place in the midst of this restless and anxious world. Isa. 32:18. Let us move into this blessed and peaceful house of the Lord and never move out of it for all eternity!
It is always peaceful and good to be together with those who build and dwell in the house of the Lord. They perform their daily work in God’s blessed peace and rest. They seek God’s kingdom and His glory in everything they do, and God pursues them and overtakes them with His blessings. They are truly rich people. They have good hearts, and they have secured for themselves a heavenly dwelling for eternity.
