Lukewarm!
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth.” Rev. 3:15-16.
God’s judgment over those who are lukewarm is hard and dreadful: “I will spew you out of My mouth.”
It is revolting to drink from a body of lukewarm, stagnant water that is not fed by a well and doesn’t have an outflow. All kinds of bacteria thrive in such water. This is how revolting lukewarm Christians are to God.
Those who are lukewarm are a poisonous fountain for all kinds of wretchedness among the believers. They make room for Satan and his intrigues. They are the source for slanderous tales. If anyone cleanses himself from them, “he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.” 2 Tim. 2:21.
If you place a vessel filled with milk beside a vessel that is filled with paraffin, the milk will very quickly absorb the smell of the paraffin and spoil.
You cannot be friends with halfhearted people if you want to preserve your life with God. You need to warn them and awaken them to life. If you do not succeed, it is best to leave them alone as quickly as possible. Perhaps they will then come to their senses.
A lukewarm person never comes to experience true peace and joy. He never becomes a partaker of divine nature; he never comes to the knowledge of the blessed fellowship in the Spirit. He remains outside of God’s glory for all eternity.
Lot’s wife became a pillar of salt because her heart was divided. Gehazi was covetous and became a leper. His sentence was, “Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and your descendants forever.” 2 Kings 5:27.
Many of the kings in the old covenant had a good beginning; but they became sluggish and went astray when God blessed them and everything went well. It is sad to read about their end.
No one wants to be known as lukewarm; they would rather have a name of being alive. However, everyone must examine himself whether Christ really dwells in his heart by faith and be on guard against stagnation in his life.
