Colossians 3:3

Colossians 3:3

“For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Once we have been raised up with Christ the intention is for us to be dead to the things of the earth. Then our life is hidden with Christ in God. Then people no longer understand us. They understand us only if we are interested in the things of the earth.

Your life is not hidden with Christ in God if you call yourself a Christian and still desire the things of the earth. Not at all! Your life is revealed, as are the lives of everyone else.

We read that the works of the flesh are evident, “which are . . .” etc. Gal. 5:19. A person’s life is not hidden with Christ if he is subject to any of these things. It says further that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. The works of the flesh are evident. Everyone knows that they are sin. When you live in them, people know what kind of a life you are living, and they can judge you as to what kind of a person you are. They know what kind of state you are in because it is precisely the same thing they are striving with.

God condemned sin in Jesus’ flesh. Rom. 8:3. None of the works of the flesh were ever manifested in His life, which was why He was able to say, “Which of you convicts Me of sin?” John 8:46. None of them could do it because His life was hidden; they simply did not understand Him. They wanted Him to go up to Jerusalem to the feast and show Himself because He was doing such mighty works. John 7:2-6. If the honor of man had motivated Him, they would have understood Him; but He went according to God’s will. His life was hidden. This is also how our life must be hidden with Christ in God. Not a single ungodly person must be able to point out a sin in our life. If they can, then we are not walking in the light, for we should have more light than the ungodly! But if we walk in the Spirit, then our life will be hidden with Christ in God. Then sin is being put to death in the flesh so that it will not result in works. People have no understanding of the battle that is going on. When the Word judges the thoughts and intents of the heart, and I surrender them into death, no one can follow these hidden battles, for the Spirit speaks to me about it before people do, if I am listening.

No one can live this life unless he has forsaken everything and reckons himself dead to the things of this earth and alive to the things that are above.

Whenever you are in various circumstances, people expect you to act in a certain way. Then they reckon that you are motivated either by anxiety, love of money, honor, or pride. But then they see the complete opposite! They cannot judge you. Your life is hidden. You become a stranger to them. You will be an aroma of death to death to them.

A spiritual person judges all things, yet he himself is judged by no one. 1 Cor. 2:14-15.

Even if they cannot judge you, yet you can judge them because you know what dwells in man and what motivates him. Jesus could say, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?” Mark 2:8. No one needed to tell Him what was in man, for He knew what dwelt in him. John 2:25. He who is earthly speaks of the earth, but He who is from heaven is above all. If we have died together with Him to the things that are of the earth, and seek the things that are above where Christ sits at the right hand of God, then we will enter into a life that is hidden with Him in God, and then we will also be above all. This is the royal priesthood that will rule together with Jesus for a thousand years, and the world will be judged by them. They will even judge angels. 1 Cor. 6:2-3.
