Many Schemes

Many Schemes

“Truly, this only I have found: that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.” Eccl. 7:29.

Jesus was as He should be; He was like the simple Word of God. He needed so very little.

He prayed: “Give us this day our daily bread.” He did not seek any earthly abundance or gain. Man of himself is totally corrupt; he needs so much. As we continue to live in close fellowship with Christ, we become increasingly more simple. Man seeks out all kinds of schemes. He affects a different voice when he speaks, he uses gestures, facial expressions and other antics. He quite simply performs these tricks for the beast. It is the beast in man that demands all these things, and it is the beast in man that performs them.

The truth is very simple; yet it is not tolerated in this world. However, let us rather be castoffs and fools than perform tricks for the beast. Let us become more and more simple in everything, with the goal of becoming like the Master. We need to aim at needing as little as possible in this world. If we are temperate and faithful in this world, we will receive abundance in the world to come.
