Christ’s Return

Christ’s Return

Why do almost all the preachers in the world lie? They say that all God’s people will be with the Lord when He returns, irrespective of how they are living. They cannot possibly be saying this in order persuade them to turn away from all their foolishness. On the contrary! With this lie, they are strengthening them to continue with their bad life.

This leaves us with only one explanation. They lie to God’s people because they know that most of them would like to get off as easily as possible. They lie in order to please the masses, for the sake of gain. “For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.” Rom. 16:18. If this pertained to only a few, especially bad preachers, it would not be so bad. But unfortunately, it is all too common; it is accepted. Even in Paul’s days it was like that: “For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.” 2 Cor. 2:17.

If the preachers were to speak only the truth as Paul says, they would only be received by those who love God more than their own lusts, and thus there would be fewer people, less money, and reduced earthly glory. But on the other hand, there would be heavenly glory instead!

The words of Scripture are clear. Christ will return to fetch His bride, His helper who is like Him: those who overcome sin, do God’s will, are obedient to the gospel, and keep His commandments; the faithful ones who have followed Him wherever He went, who have been conformed to the image of the Son through a corresponding death to the same life, in whose mouth is found no guile. Christ will return for all those who have put off works of the flesh (such as: unrighteousness, unbiblical marriage, fornication of all kinds, covetousness, stubbornness, backbiting, lying, hypocrisy, flattery, partiality, love of money, anxiety, conceit, wanton living, the lust of the eyes, anger, strife, discord, factionalism, jealousy, envy, suspicion, vengefulness, vanity, being puffed up, pride, the lust to rule, acting arbitrarily, etc.), those who have put all old matters right and who have corrected the injustices they committed against their fellow men.

He comes to fetch the wise virgins, not the foolish ones; the faithful servants, not the unfaithful ones. He will fetch His loving, holy, and blameless bride, the one who truly loves Him and is waiting for Him, who has walked in His steps and has suffered with Him and been dishonored together with Him, and will therefore also be glorified together with Him! Blessed is everyone who waits for Him in this way, who is found to be faithful and prepared when He comes!

Then it will not be good to be among the flock of preachers who have lied to God’s people; neither will it be good to be among the large flock who have believed the lie.
