Be Ready!

Be Ready!

From the very beginning of the church the call has always gone out: “Be ready!” “Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning.” Luke 12:35. Jesus’ words to us are, “Behold, I am coming soon.” But when the Bridegroom tarried, they all fell asleep. So when the shout went out in the darkness: “The Bridegroom is coming! Go out to meet Him!” there was only one thing that mattered, and that was: to have light—the light that is produced by the oil that each one possesses individually. Nothing gives off light unless something is burning, and a life in which nothing has been crushed is not ready to meet Jesus. On the other hand, when God’s word has been received and has melted together with faith in the heart, so that the fruit of the light has become active in all goodness, righteousness and truth, one is ready to meet God.

The five foolish virgins lacked oil, and those who are not ready lack God’s word translated into life. Therefore we must give all diligence to add to our faith virtue and good works, for so an entrance will be supplied to us abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:5-11.

We must have something to fall back on in the ups and downs of life, and we can only do this in the truth in which we have lived and walked. The crown of righteousness is prepared for all those who love revelations from God. Loving His revelations and then carrying them out in all the circumstances of life gives us the oil we need so we can always have a burning light.
