And He Will Turn the Hearts of the Fathers to the Children,

And He Will Turn the Hearts of the Fathers to the Children,
and the Hearts of the Children to Their Fathers

Malachi 4:6

This verse clearly tells us what sin and Satan’s work basically consist of. The fathers’ hearts were turned against their own children, and the children’s hearts were turned against their own parents. What an appalling work! Salvation consisted of turning this around again: turning hearts toward each other instead of being turned against each other.

The same thing applies to all other situations. Satan’s most important work consists of turning hearts against each other—the hearts of siblings, the hearts of marriage partners, the hearts of housewives and their maids, and the hearts of employers and employees, etc.—everyone against each other.

The strategy that our bitter enemy uses in all these cases is to let everyone imagine that they are fighting for what is right, in a way that everyone dwells only on what is advantageous and convenient for themselves, not thinking of the others’ best and not putting themselves in their situations, difficulties, and needs. Then they seek to persuade everyone to misunderstand what the other person is saying, instead of thinking that he had the best of intentions.

In this way love, without which everything else is nothing, is excluded. If the heart is cold, it is of little use if you are in the right.
