Preparations
Prepare yourself, if at all possible, before you go to the meeting—not in a human way by making up something to say, but by strengthening yourself in the Lord your God. You may meditate for hours on some truth and then go to the meeting and speak about something entirely different. Do not worry about what to say, for it shall be given to you. But to whom is it given?? Or to whom is it best given? See Psalm 1. To the one who meditates on His law and to the one who keeps himself in the love of God. Prepare yourself by keeping yourself in the love of God. Jude 20-21. We are called to bear one another’s burdens. However, we need to see them first. In order to find them, we need to be interested in looking for them. Think and see in such a way that you find the burdens; then you will have something to say for necessary edification when you come to the meeting. Without “preparing” yourself, it is easy to come to the meeting in a spirit of indifference or anxiety, and one is then less able to serve.
The result of preparing yourself is warmth, loss of worries, and a living interest. This makes you ideally suited to serve.
