Religious Deceivers
It has become quite common today to borrow money and not repay it. People also buy food and clothing on credit and think nothing more about it—they do not repay it.
What do the Scriptures say about such people? “The wicked borrows and does not repay . . . .” Ps. 37:21. In other words, such people are ungodly, and it is highly inappropriate for an ungodly person to take the Word of God into his mouth. He will not be able to stay in God’s assembly where there is light and judgment over all unrighteousness. People usually go into debt because they are living beyond their means. However, “A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked.” Ps. 37:16.
God’s kingdom is first and foremost a kingdom of righteousness. If you have debts from your former ungodly life that have not been cleared up, be diligent to pay them off, even if you can only pay a little each week. Throw yourself on the mercy of the one against whom you have committed an injustice and humbly ask for forgiveness. From then on, demonstrate a God-fearing attitude. If you are not willing to do this, make sure you refrain from testifying about God, because your testimony will only be an offense. We have heard more than enough of such testimonies. Jude 4. People confess God with their mouth, but they deny Him in deed and truth. Such people are blemishes in God’s assembly. Let the Word of righteousness, moderation and judgment continuously sound in their ears. Eventually there will be a parting of the ways, and everyone will end up where they rightfully belong.
