Are You Running in the Race?
Are you along in the competition? 1 Cor. 9:24-27; 10:1-6, 11. “No,” you say, “I live in the dispensation of grace as the fish lives in the water. Jesus is my righteousness. It is finished. I am under the blood. He ran the race. I am as free as a bird. Whoever the Son has made free, is free indeed.” You mean that he is free from running the race???
However, Paul and those who were with him were not free from running the race, because he writes that we are temperate in all things, disciplining our body and bringing it into subjection in order to obtain an imperishable crown.
You don’t like this “subjection,” and this “crown”??? Very well, tastes vary, and the results are accordingly. True liberty sets us free from that which hinders us from keeping everything that He has commanded us. False liberty excuses us from the entire race because Christ has finished His race: “It is finished.”
However, the race that I shall run to the end, that race is not finished; and so that this shall succeed, I have to deny myself daily in all areas until the end. Are you doing this, dear friend?
If you are not doing it, you are surely under the same cloud and are walking through the same sea as the others; you are baptized with the same baptism as the others; you eat the same spiritual food and drink the same spiritual drink as the others; yes, your Rock is Christ; but—nevertheless, God is not pleased with you!!!
Let this wake you up! Be zealous and repent from all defilement of flesh and spirit!
