Elias Aslaksen:

Micah 5:6-12. I thought about this, that there are those who do not understand these verses and who will possibly never understand them. Those who can, they will understand them, and those who cannot, they can let it be. Remember that it is not bad if you cannot understand it. If you say because you do not understand it, you cannot believe it; you are thereby saying that you can understand everything that is in God. This does not mean that it is not in God. You cannot understand a spiritual man. It is written about Jesus that He is priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek, and so is everyone who is born of the Spirit. We are priests in the same manner. We are not waiting on anyone. We are not accountable to any man. This is how it shall be with the remnant of Jacob—like a lion treads down and tears to pieces, and no one can deliver; like dew from the Lord; like sudden showers when someone is bringing in a load of hay. Wherever these people go there is division. They disturb everything wherever they advance. This is the work of God. It is vital that we keep what is written, that we understand what we are called to be. We turn everything upside down. “Your hand shall be lifted against your adversaries, and all your enemies shall be cut off.” Be very bold and strong so that you keep everything that is written, so that you may act wisely in all things wherever you go. Josh. 1:7. We shall comfort and help all these people who are downtrodden, the upright and all those who are dissatisfied with themselves. These birds that have been trapped shall be set free. Lift up your heads; now the time has come; the time of redemption has come. Lift up your hand against your adversaries. Begin now to understand this! Use your gifts! We have looked into ourselves, but now we must begin to look outside of ourselves. Being children, we acted like children, but now we should be capable of tearing down whitewashed walls. We possess grace and power which is increasing day by day. We have enough weapons; there is sufficient strength in God’s Word. They have built a wall, an enormous wall. If we overcome ourselves, if we gain the victory, we will be greater than the one who conquers a city. In the first instance our adversary is sin; in the second instance they are the people who are ruled by sin. Those who have begun to gain the victory over sin are our friends. The others hate us because we cast light onto their way. They consider us their adversaries. We hate sin, but not people. It is our desire that they be saved.

What do we see when the whitewash has been washed off the wall? We see conceit and all kinds of filth. Ezek. 13. “There will be flooding rain, and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall tear it down.” V. 11. The souls that you hunt will be let go like birds. V. 20. We cannot set them free unless we use power. We must accept toil and hardship. Agabus said to Paul, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’” Acts 21:10-11. The wall through which we have to go is “lying.” Those who are weak and afraid can stay home. The others must be armed for battle at any time. All those who are prepared for war must go to war. We advance with great boldness. The very fact that we are bold puts the enemy to flight. Watch out that you do not admire yourself when you go into battle! If He cannot use you, He will use someone else. Believe in Him, obey Him! We shall be victorious by faith.
