Come Out of Her, My People

Rev. 18:4

We have examples of friends who have received light from God, but who still cling to their worldly families, and we have seen that they suffer loss as a result. They vacillate, and that corrupts their spiritual lives. No one can serve God and Belial. Family ties are so strong that Jesus uses words like “hate” to make it clear that nothing less can sever those ties. If we have truly learned to love Jesus and His blessed Spirit, we will hate every other spiritual influence, no matter where it comes from. The fact that it comes from father, mother, brother or sister makes no difference.

Some assemblies completely exclude those who preach the word of the cross and Christ manifest in the flesh. They do not understand that by doing this, they are persecuting God’s saints. But for them, the words of the Lord to Saul of Tarsus will be fulfilled: “It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” In these assemblies, there are people who have received light from God, but they are still in enough darkness that they truly believe they can win over their leaders and others. If I want to rescue someone in the water, I need to get onto dry land first. I cannot stay in the water and try to save someone from drowning.

“Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.” Heb. 13:13.

When we mix a liter of milk with a liter of water, we get a mixture of milk and water. That is exactly what happens to souls who try to fit in with everyone. Their mind is divided. They become feeble, crippled individuals who are far from being a savor of death to death and a savor of life to life. Their fleshly ties rob them of divine strength; and what little divine strength they retain robs them of the aroma that would allow them to fit in with their carnal relatives. They are like salt that has lost its strength and is only fit to be trodden down by men. Therefore Jesus says, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate . . . he cannot be My disciple.”
