1929
Machines may have switches to turn them off and brakes to slow them down, but nothing can stop or slow down time. It is inexorable and unrelenting. The clock on the wall does its best to keep up, but eventually it, too, slows down and has to be sent to the watchmaker to be cleaned and oiled. But time goes by and needs no maintenance. We get older; new generations grow up and the old go the way of all dust. The sun rises and sets untiringly, bringing light, warmth and life. It has observed the children of men right from the time of Adam and Eve.
There is another Sun that also emits light and warmth. It is the “Sun of Righteousness” who warms and illuminates our heart and mind. We need both of these suns. The first brings temporal blessings, the latter eternal. We are very thankful to God that He has allowed this eternal Sun to rise in our heart. He brings healing and peace.
As the sun rises and sets day after day throughout 1929, let us be open to receive light and healing from the Sun of Righteousness, who also makes His daily rounds, not only during the day but also at night. Nothing material can in any way obstruct this light. Only sin can dim its rays and cloud its radiance, until eventually we lose sight of it altogether. But having been set free from sin, we have become slaves of righteousness. Rom. 6:18.
With this sunlight and with peace in this ministry, we wish each and every one of the friends a “Happy New Year.”
