Youth and Children’s Revival in Horten (1928)

For many years now, we have brought our children with us to the meetings. They have run in and out and slammed the doors, and in our feasts they have been given more freedom than many would have liked. However, they have grown to love God, the friends and the meetings. Before Christmas, brother Aslaksen was with us for about three weeks. He held meetings for the adults, but most of them hardened themselves to his many clear and blessed testimonies. In contrast, the children and young people received the Word of God. They began to cry to God for complete and total salvation, and God answered their prayers. Br. Aslaksen held meetings with them every evening from 7 to 8 o’clock. He remarked that having meetings with them was very blessed—quite different from meeting with the adults. More and more were saved, and after br. Aslaksen’s departure, the revival continued so that nearly all the youth and children who attended the meetings were saved. Two young boys of friends from outside Horten also attended, and they, too, were saved. Young boys from the age of 8 and above have been praying out loud, thanking God that they have been saved. Now the boys and girls each have their own meetings, and according to them, those are the best meetings.

God has done such great things for us here in Horten, and I want to urge the friends everywhere to take time to work with the children and young people. The adults are full of prejudices and partiality, which, in our experience, makes it difficult for them to believe. On the other hand, a child’s heart is pliable and receptive to the Word of God.

By God’s grace and goodness, the revival continues among the children here in Horten, and we hope that God will find willing and able workers for His kingdom among these young people.
