Spiritual Yearnings
When we pray much, we will taste that the Lord is good.
On all God’s ways it is like this: when we surrendered ourselves to Him, a longing in our heart for a deeper surrender and a more glorious entrance into God was created. If we pray much, we will long to pray even more. If we read much in God’s Word, and God reveals the Scriptures to us, we will long to enter even more into the Word. We are gripped by what we receive and are led forward to what we have not yet attained. “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby to salvation, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.” 1 Pet. 2:2-3. When we taste that the Lord is good, we long for Him because God’s goodness contains a compelling power, since it testifies of Him who is good.
Make sure that this compelling power, this longing for more, does not cease in your life because then you will fall asleep without suspecting it.
