Quiet Before the Lord’s Face

It is an unspeakably great grace and blessing to have a clear vision of life; otherwise you cannot make steady progress.

When we quietly remain before God’s face in prayer so that we—without saying what is on our heart—also hear what is on God’s heart to say to us, we will receive impressions that clarify and strengthen our view of life in a marvelous way, making our heart wise and meek. Even though we cannot express our understanding in corresponding words, we nevertheless know and are reminded of the direction: to lay down our life in love for Jesus’ sake, for the sake of our salvation, and for the sake of the others. Then we also consider Jesus, ourselves, and the others.

Let us therefore exercise ourselves in walking much in quietness before God; and just as much as we are diligent to speak to Him, so we must also be diligent to listen, so that we can possess as much as possible of what is useful and pleasing when, together with other people, are engaged in the busyness of life. .

We should always keep in mind that the intention is actually not to hold meetings, but to win souls, so that we are really diligent to win some souls!

By the same token, the aim is not to testify, but to get someone to believe! However, you cannot believe unless something is being preached, and you cannot believe anything besides what is being preached.

If you think that you are desirous of serving the others, then you should not use much of your time and strength to assure the others of how willing you are; on the contrary, exert every possible effort to serve them!
