Elias Aslaksen:

Jesus says, “I am the way.” Most people think of this as the way to the Atoner. However, the way to the way cannot be the way. The Father draws to the Son. John 6:44. Jesus says, “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus as “the Way” to the Father (perfection) begins when I have victory over sin and once and for all reckon myself to be dead with Christ. Christ consecrated the way through the veil (His flesh). Now the same way goes through our flesh, and all our enemies are being destroyed on this way. People think that we should be finished with the cross at some point, but how can they wage war against the enemies if they are not even aware of their existence? They don’t differentiate between reckoning themselves dead to sin, and sanctification.

We have victory over numerous deeds which those who say they are finished with the cross don’t even suspect exist. As a rule, they rejoice over things that we class among our worst enemies, things that we curse and trample under our feet. They cannot understand this glorious way of the cross, nor will they understand it. It is sealed.

Isaiah 61:1 to 62:7. We know that Jesus came after this was written. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled—not with grace, but with righteousness. Do we not hunger for righteousness? Those who mourn will be comforted. It is part of the ministry of righteousness to comfort them with righteousness. The terebinth tree has a straight trunk and is taller and stronger than other trees. The descendants of the righteous and their offspring shall be known among the nations. It will be seen who has begotten you. They will say about you, “Behold, you are one of them who are terrible in light and judgment.” Blessed are you, man and woman, who gives birth to children who are even known by the gleam in their eyes. The Lord loves righteousness and hates unrighteousness. “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire . . . .” Gold is a precious metal; it is valuable. Can you condemn your opponents with grace? Isa. 54:17. No, for that is not judgment. It doesn’t speak about imputed righteousness in this scripture, but about a personal righteousness. Can you believe His Word? Your future is bright and long. This calling is great. Praise Him! And why shouldn’t we do that seeing that we receive a righteousness that stands the test even before God’s face? And why shouldn’t it stand the test seeing that we have received it from Him?
