Wisdom
Where is the spirit of wisdom found? It is a sensitive spirit that only comes near in an atmosphere of trust in order to speak with souls, but it keeps its distance from those who do not love it. Nevertheless, this spirit is waiting, and for those who seek wisdom, it immediately makes itself known. In order to understand its words, you have to disregard your own opinion, your own reasoning, and be as someone who knows nothing compared to his teacher. Then this spirit will approach the person and instruct the babes, for it does not acknowledge any human greatness—only those who are poor in their spirit and hungry for that which is everlasting.
You forget yourself in the presence of wisdom. There is a veil of forgetfulness over the activity of your own mind, and as soon as it is set in motion, working on its own, wisdom will step aside and be quiet, and you will be aware of yourself again.
Everything stops, and you will not advance when the self-life has become the central point of your life again. From this we learn that man must have something outside himself, something he can see and around which he can revolve, something in which he can immerse himself in a state of self-sacrifice, and that is God. We have received the Spirit that is from God so that we may know the things that have been given to us by God. Also the depths in God are to be revealed to us. Therefore this is a way to glory, a way in the light to a radiant light. On this way you will become rich without knowing it. This wealth in the spirit comes like a river, settling in our heart without us doing anything but beholding and hearing the amazing words of the Spirit of God.
The treasures in us become an outflowing fountain within. The Spirit binds Himself to the glorious things which He has laid down in us, for they belong to Christ—also in me—and proclaim it through me to others who are hungry souls. Therefore Jesus says, “He who receives you receives Me . . . .”
This is how we become spiritual people whose words are also spirit and life as truly as it is Christ’s testimony in us. When someone keeps this testimony, it will be for his salvation.
Since wisdom produces life, it surpasses all that is corruptible. It is a clear outpouring of God’s incomparable glory.
