Faith
Simpson says, “Faith is the strongest law we know.”
Without faith it is impossible to please God, and without faith it is impossible to get anything done for God. God only acknowledges works of faith. You will have enough work to do if you have much faith.
There is a difference between faith and wishes. Walk around and speak with believers about God’s work, and you will find a lot of pious and beautiful wishes, but little faith. You will hear many of them say, “Yes, I wish that sinners could be saved; I wish we had revival; I wish believers would be one; I wish, I wish!” But if you ask the same people, “Do you have faith to begin seriously working for the sinners’ salvation; do you have faith to begin?” Then you will often hear this answer: “No, it is so hard here; a work has been going on here for a long time. It is like a country road that has been trampled down; I’m afraid other people will have to do it. First the believers have to become one; first it must, first it must—sorry, but I just don’t have faith for it.”
Many wishes but no faith! A spark of faith accomplishes more than a thousand wishes. However, “since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak.” 2 Cor. 4:13.
The Spirit of Faith
is not a spirit of wishing that sits idly with a “pious love” and lets sinners go to hell without any other assistance except for your wishes, while you yourself are living in pure laziness. Spirit of faith! Pray to God for it! Be obedient to it. The spirit of unbelief and the spirit of wishing have ruined your life far too long. Chase both of them out of the gate. Curse them out of your life!
Also have the right faith for yourself! Believe that God can use you. “I have so little. I need more for myself,” you say. What have you received? The forgiveness of sins. And that is little? Victory over sin! And that is little? The baptism of the Spirit! And that is little?
Use what you have in faith. Even today God blesses two loaves of bread and five small fish. Have the right faith for yourself.
False humility and Satan say, “I can do nothing.” Of course, so that you will receive nothing. And with it come a thousand excuses in self-defense.
Do you have the spirit of faith?
