Whom the Speaker Is Aiming At

The one who serves in the church by speaking the Word, speaks the truth for the benefit of souls— whether his ministry is a result of a special gift, or whether it manifests itself in individual instances as a result of being made perfect for the work of ministry that every member attains to in every part as he increasingly partakes of life.

He does not “aim” at anyone, as it is called, in order to reproach him secretly, because such behavior does not belong in the church but rather in the congregation of the evil.

On the other hand, a particular action or a particular incident involving one or several people can have been the cause for the revelation of the truth or the teaching which the speaker is presenting. Or the deed (incident) can be used as an illustration to illuminate the truth.

The cause may be with the speaker himself (he can speak about himself in an impersonal way) as much as in one of the most honorable or least honorable of the members. It is of no consequence whatsoever who is the cause of it! It is vanity and folly to be occupied with who or what is the cause!

You can rest with joy and peace in the fact that your mistake is used to shed light over what is true and profitable. The very fact that my folly is brought to light serves me for my best and for my salvation. If it can also be used for other people’s profit, it is better still. Neither does the old nature possess any honor that I can fear will be offended—I can be at rest on that point.

Therefore: the usual thought about whom the speaker is aiming at is vanity and darkness, and the judgment that he is aiming “at me” is even greater darkness.

Whom is the speaker aiming at? He is aiming at all those who have fulfilled the condition for receiving and preserving the doctrine (the truth).

What is the aim? As much salvation as possible for as many as possible!

This is the way to serve in the church. Whatever is beyond that is of the evil. Suspicion (judgment without light) does not belong in the body of Christ but among the brood of hell. Whatever is revealed is light, and the revelation of the Spirit is given to everyone for his own profit.

Judge nothing before the time (before it becomes evident) and do not listen to every voice in your heart, but remain in the light and examine and judge each thought according to the laws of light—as far as you know them; then you will have rest in a good conscience and be blessed in your deeds (in all your thoughts).
