(Becoming Strong in God)

July 1913

Just as Christ learned obedience through what He suffered so too must they who follow Him learn through suffering how God wants them to live.

He who would conform to the spiritual law must, by necessity, live for others.

Practically speaking this means we are to be united with Christ in His death.

If you wish to receive what God wants to give you, then you must, in the right spirit, give as a voluntary sacrifice, what God wants from you.

To serve, it is necessary to keep one’s spirit open to God, so that He can work in and through us.

A servant of the Lord must practice what he preaches in order to be pleasing to God.

Truth enables a believer to be strong. Ananias could not stand before Peter with his lies. Sin weakens you, because it brings all the power of God against you. Israel could not stand before the men of Ai because of sin in the camp. Remove all that makes you weak; remove all that hinders you from being strong.

Ignorance is a source of weakness.

Sin may be hidden from man, but not from the law.
