Life and Peace
The mind of the Spirit is life and peace. Life and peace are one. Christ is our life and He is our peace. This peace is not only a reconciling peace, as between two nations; neither is it a condition; it is a person: He Himself is our peace. Eph. 2:14. We are one in Him and with Him. Life is oneness; our peace is oneness in life with Him. Unity in life does not generate division. We are baptized with one Spirit to be one body. Life’s harmony fills one body. The sword must be used wherever oneness is not life—a sword that is used in love and zeal in the power of God. The aim of the sword is life and peace. The one who loves is always battling. Love fills us with hatred against everything that hinders it from reaching its goal. Love is jealous. The weapons of love are righteousness and truth. Love is constantly at work and fearless in battle; its desire is insatiable. Love’s longing is to pour itself out into the hearts of mankind. It changes them according to its own nature. It transforms them to become its co-laborers for its goal: life and peace.
