The Children of Israel Veil the Lord Their God With Words That Are Not Right
Many people form an idea of Christ according to their own opinions; others according to their lusts; others again after their feelings. Few people let Him be as He is. They measure Him according to human standards; they view Him according to their own desires. They mold “The Eternally Unchangeable One” according to imaginations and thoughts of their own hearts. Everyone has his own ideas about how He is; everyone has his own doctrine about Him according to his own life. People argue about how He is; they separate because others do not see Him in the same way. They form factions around “The Exalted One,” everyone according to the image he has of Him. People boast of having Him in their midst, in their life. People are envious, bear a grudge, and are impetuous. Yet they believe that they are presenting Christ with the right words! They veil Him with words that are not right; they present Him in life which is not according to His will. He becomes unrecognizable in the mouths of those who present Him; they distort His character; His truth is mixed with lies. The Spirit of God does not know Him like that; a false image is made of “The Just One.” A Christ who is thus falsely presented evolves into false lives. The one who veils Christ in words that are not right does the same thing with Him in his life.
The humble are agreed in letting Christ be as He is; they do not mold His appearance according to their opinions of Him. On the contrary, they let His life flow into their hearts, to be molded according to His image. They will speak about Him with words that are right.
