Skjulte Skatte

January 1913

Skjulte Skatte is now beginning its second year of publication. By God’s grace our aim continues to be to put forward those truths that are according to godliness. God’s people are being inundated with many kinds of doctrines in these days, and it takes a watchful eye to discern the genuine from the false. There is ferment everywhere, and Satan is not inactive in all this prevailing religious confusion. Many a soul who had advanced on God’s ways has since fallen into Satan’s snares, leaving behind a sound life of faith and ending up in false doctrines. Therefore it is good to abide in the sound form of doctrine which makes us wise unto salvation.

Skjulte Skatte is a publication for those who are wholeheartedly seeking and desire to live, the truth. Half-hearted Christians will not like it; they will not understand it. This is where Jesus’ words are relevant when He says, “Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.” John 8:43. Those who do according to His word experience that the doctrine is from God. Perhaps there are a few things in the paper that may be hard to understand for some people, but read the paper prayerfully for the light of the Spirit and with a willing heart that is open to the truth and ready to follow it in all things. Do not read the paper casually, like a story, because then you will not get much out of it; reflect on what you are reading, preferably several times. The more you chew food, the better you will digest it. Once you have thoroughly absorbed what you have read, let others read it. You don’t see the truth as long as you don’t have enlightened eyes, even though you have read it. A sister who read through an issue of the publication found nothing for herself in it. “But seeing that it is called Skjulte Skatte, perhaps there are hidden treasures in the paper anyway,” she thought and read it one more time, finding unexpected treasures that were a great blessing and of benefit to her. One of Satan’s greatest tricks is to make our spirit and mind incapable of meditating on the Lord’s law day and night. He makes our spirit dull and “not in the mood”; he takes away the spiritual appetite and taste and makes the soul sick. Beware when you notice that something like that slips into your life, for then you are in danger. In Jesus’ power you can always keep your spirit free from the world and from Satan’s pressure. Then you are sufficiently agile so that the Holy Spirit can lead you into any truth that you might be in need of.

Be along in spreading the paper and making it known.
