Thieves

A Christian who is not watchful is like a thief who robs the others. Who does not steal precious time from the others by engaging in vain conversation; a pleasant chat about all other things except what is essential; words about external, countless circumstances and about people who are active in public life? Idleness and wasting time are Satan’s great masterpieces when it comes to undermining souls. Precious time could have been used for serving God within and without. God can use a soul each moment. It is robbery to have religious social gatherings where the truth must not be like a two-edged sword but has to be in harmony with a comfortable atmosphere.

You can rob brothers of their purity, planting poison in their hearts by speaking derogatively about others. You can rob a soul of faith to act because of your own unbelief. God gives each individual the faith to act for each work; but since others have not received the same faith for the same work, they will often plant doubt in a person’s heart. Instead they should rather have encouraged him in the faith. A person can be grounded in the faith concerning salvation, but his faith to act is often weak. Many people need to be supported in this area. When you have robbed a person of his faith, you have thereby destroyed the result in its entirety—a result with eternal values. Everyone must guard his own doorsteps. You will often find that your “best friends” are the worst thieves. A decisive “No” is often more profitable than a thousand compliant “Yeses.”
