What Shall We Do in the Sanctuary?
In the Holy of Holies there were, among other things, the ark of the covenant, a golden urn holding the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the mercy seat. Hebrews 9:3-5.
If we are not interested in following Jesus in the new covenant, that He entered into and fulfilled, then we don’t belong in the new sanctuary. Jesus was tempted ass we are in every respect, yet without sin. Therefore we can with confidence draw near to the throne of grace and receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16. In the trials we need mercy and grace so that we, too, can be without sin.
“Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25. “Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that utterance may be given me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel . . . .” Ephesians 6:18-19.
In these verses we see what we are to do in the sanctuary. However, it is in the blood of Jesus that we have the boldness to enter in. When we bear a grudge against someone, we cannot stand in the sanctuary before God’s face as an intercessor. Nor can we stand before Him and pray for grace to help in the time of need, if we do not believe in overcoming just as He overcame.
