521. Conference in Nesbyen 1935
“Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice. A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, and a cover from the tempest, as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
“The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.” Isa. 32:1, ff.
Precisely what is written here is being fulfilled in us. There is a King who reigns in our conferences. It is Jesus Christ who, by His Spirit, is leading everything. This is the reason our conferences, which we have had for 25 years—several times a year—have been a blessing from beginning to end. When it is written that the princes will rule with justice, that means that every single one of them listens for what the Spirit of God is working in them. Then we become as a hiding place from the wind and a cover from the tempest, etc.
Many friends came from West Norway: 27 from Bergen and 27 from Molde and Måløy. Many elder brothers came from East Norway in cars filled with friends. The meeting hall in Nesbyen is quite large, but during the afternoon meeting, when many of the young people from the village came in, the hall was so full that people had to stand in the corridor.
Zealous servants of the Lord are growing up among us, especially young brothers. And they are full of Spirit and of life. That infects other young people who are drawn along by the fervent seriousness in the preaching. After the conference, Sigurd Bratlie, Aksel J. Smith, Johannes Kronstad, Ronald Henriksen, and Elihu Pedersen left by car for Flisa, Trysil, Koppang, etc. Among these young brothers there are evangelists and teachers, as well as musical talent. May God bless their mission so that the land of Norway might be filled with God’s light and knowledge. For their task is to teach the people to forsake sinful lusts and believe in God.
The meetings during the conference were especially blessed. A number of sick people were prayed for, and between the meetings some battled through to the baptism of the Spirit. Brother Elias Aslaksen baptized about twenty friends in the river up there.
We have now had conferences in Nesbyen every summer for nine years, and I believe the young people who live in that valley have received a good understanding of what this is all about. Over time they have also seen for themselves sisters whose pure conduct has been an adornment for the doctrine and for the gospel of Christ.
Brother Karl Pedersen and Rudolf Schwaiger went with the friends to Måløy and Bergen. They used their vacation time in God’s service.
