473. Pentecost Conference 1935
2 John 1-5. John had received a strong love for the truth. That is why Jesus, who is truth itself, also loved him very much. Man is completely permeated by lies. Lies also creep in among God’s people so that the Scriptures are given an untruthful interpretation. When people say that sin is removed through the baptism of the Spirit, that is a lie. But in Romans 6:6 we find the truth, that the old man was crucified with Him that the body of sin might be done away with. In the letter to the Thessalonians we read about some who could not be saved because they did not receive the love of the truth. David loved the truth. When he heard the truth that he was the man, he kept quiet. The truth shall set us free, and God gives ample grace and power to everyone who wants to hear and obey the truth.
A lack of love for the truth holds God’s people down in ignorance, darkness, and bondage.
Satan is a liar and the father of lies. But he who loves the truth quickly learns to know Him, Christ, the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings.
If we are to be children of the truth, we must live the truth. It must be in us and with us right into eternity.
All science is seeking truth in nature. But we seek truth in the Spirit—the Spirit of truth—which searches all things. Science cannot save us, but the Spirit of truth sets us free and saves us in Jesus Christ. If we had loved the truth more, we would be more saved today. The truth about our lying, our cowardice, our pride, etc., saves us and sets us free. That is why the Spirit of truth is convincing. Before I was saved, I only loved the Spirit of truth unconsciously; but now I love it consciously.
It will be blessed to meet the elect lady and her children in eternity, because they loved the truth. 2 John 1 and 5. Also Gaius, whom John loved in truth.
Diotrephes did not love the truth. He wanted to have the preeminence. He backbit John and the brothers who were of the truth with malicious words and did not receive them (just like most Christians today).
Demetrius, on the other hand, had a good testimony from all and from the truth itself. 3 John.
We have many young brothers who now will testify of the truth. Make sure you never yield to the lying Christianity of Diotrephes because it is of Satan.
A good and blessed Spirit rested over the Pentecost conference. It was clear that the brothers had grown in grace. God’s knowledge and light were abundant and marvelous. No one can overcome the truth. Trying to do that is the same as kicking against the goads. The hall was full of friends. There are always new people coming. Five friends came from Denmark, including Thora Vindeløv and Rikke Andreassen who have been along for many years. The testimony that is written here is from the morning of the first Pentecost Sunday. We don’t have room here for the remainder of all the good messages and conversations. They must be added to the archive of books, which even the world itself could not contain if they were written.
