471. Easter Conference 1935

On Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Saturday we were gathered together with approximately 150 brothers. We had meetings, conversations, Bible studies, and prayer. I think we all received much from these penetrating and searching meetings. Evening after evening the brothers continued talking late into the night.

The actual conference was on Easter Sunday and Monday. The hall was overflowing, and forty to fifty people had to sit down in the dining room. There were about three hundred and fifty people present. We had to install loudspeakers for the occasion, and that worked well. The conference covered a lot. The brothers had grown since the powerful outpouring of the Spirit last Easter. We especially noticed how the young brothers had been strengthened in faith for the work in God’s kingdom.

But now to the testimonies. What follows is just a very short extract of the main points.

John 1:10-13. All that has been born of God overcomes the world. In that faith we will go out, and in that faith we will be strengthened, so that we stand our ground in all sorts of adversity without becoming discouraged.

Our faith is the victory that has overcome the world. We are to overcome ourselves and the spiritual hosts of wickedness. Nothing can be allowed to overcome us. Whoever is born of God does not sin; he keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. The condition for Joshua to have victory was that he had to obey God’s commandments exactly. Take careful heed so you keep all God’s commandments. Fear not! Do not look around anxiously. He will be with you. When Israel approached Jericho, the inhabitants began to tremble. Your enemies shall flee, and your land will be expanded if you have His Word and keep it.

God has given us courageous young people, and I think we can venture to say that we have given them a solid inheritance, which we ourselves have fought our way to through sufferings. Now, young people, go forward! Do better than we have! May God be with you.
