396. Spirit—Fire
“Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife. And He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.”
“The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.” Rev. 21.
From this passage we can see that the city is cubic in form. The city is the bride, the Lamb’s wife. Consequently, those who are in the bride must be cubic—that is, they must be people with content in their lives. The gospel preached to them must also be cubic and full of content.
We can see from Isaiah 11 that God’s Spirit is also cubic. For it is written: “The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.”
These seven Spirits of God rested upon Christ, and the intention is that they should also rest upon the church, which is His body; for we are baptized by one Spirit into one body with Him. We are flesh of His flesh and bone of His bones. The Bridegroom and the bride are one flesh.
If we consider the seven Spirits of God which rested upon Christ, and which now are to rest upon us, we will find the Spirit of wisdom and understanding. All double-mindedness and foolishness must be eliminated from our life. The Spirit of counsel and might rested upon Him, and the intention is that it also rests on us, for the counsel of the Lord stands forever, and the plans of His heart to all generations. The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord rested upon Jesus. He had the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. Eph. 1:17. By obeying these seven Spirits of God, His bride will also receive the same.
There are many sacrifices in our flesh which must be consumed by God’s fire. Every Spirit is accompanied by its lamp of fire. These are the seven lamps of fire which are the seven Spirits of God. Rev. 4:5. They are the eternal testimony to the fact that Christ was faithful to these seven Spirits of God in the days of His flesh, and that the sacrifices in His flesh were completely consumed by the seven lamps of fire. If these seven Spirits of God are to rest over us and remain over us, then we must also let the fire consume the sacrifices.
This is the complete gospel of the bride. This is the way through the veil, which is His flesh. Here we have the opportunity to run as if only one wins the prize. By going this way, we get content in our life. We become cubic Christians who receive the testimony of Jesus: the Spirit, the water, and the blood.
