365. The One Mind

Out in the world there are as many different minds as there are lusts and personal interests in the flesh. In the flesh dwells no good thing, so it is easy to understand that nothing good dwells in the mind either, unless it is powerfully influenced by God, the only One who is good.

It is absolutely impossible to get the ungodly to have one mind. In every nation there are as many minds as there are people and lusts. But in Christ it is possible to have one mind. When the flesh with its lusts and desires is crucified, then a person receives comfort and the refreshment of love and fellowship of the Spirit in Christ. Then we receive the same mind that was and is in Him.

With this one mind we are able to submit ourselves in love under one another and to serve one another. We become rulers in godly fear. Jesus took the form of a bondservant when He came in the likeness of men and was obedient to His Heavenly Father to the point of death, even the death of the cross. On the cross He became the atonement for all the sins of the world.

We cannot forcibly beat this single mind into each other, because we would become taskmasters for the spirit and flesh in which dwells no good thing. But when we have Jesus as our model, our pattern, we can follow Him and say to others, “Follow me as I follow Christ!”

Because Jesus went the way down, God has also highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.

So if you desire to receive a name for all eternity that is exalted above every name, follow Jesus Christ on the way of humiliation and suffering.

Satan wants to be equal with God and continue to do what he has done since the beginning. Satan wants to be as great as God. It is just the same with the people that are ruled and driven by the power of evil spirits. They want to go up, up, right up to the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the North. They are, in their extreme lunacy, so gripped by Satan that they desire to sit as God in the temple of God, showing themselves that they are God. 2 Thess. 2:4; Isa. 14:13. This is the mind of Satan and the evil spirits.

We can now choose whom we will follow, whom we will be like. Life is short. But it is long enough to get the mind of God or the mind of Satan, the kingdom of heaven or of hell.
