360. The Secret Place of the Most High
“O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
“For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His Hand. Today, if you will hear His voice!” Psalm 95:6-7.
We have every reason to thank and praise God for His salvation! He has indeed given His angels charge over us to protect us in all our ways, and He has allowed us to dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91.
In the day of affliction it is good to have your refuge in God. “Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” Psalm 23.
How beneficial it is now in these days that we have meditated on the laws of the Lord for many years. We have, by God’s grace, in this way stored up a reservoir of living wisdom that helps us through all our difficulties. It is also written, “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” Psalm 1:1-3.
I have spoken with some of the friends, and they are all very enthusiastic and thankful for the conferences, meetings, and Bible studies that we have had in the past. These times together strengthen and support us in the day of trial.
Our kingdom is not of this earth. We are preparing ourselves for the kingdom of God, an everlasting kingdom that is fast approaching. Dan. 7:27. God’s Word will remain even when heaven and earth pass away. “Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God.” 2 Pet. 3:11-12.
It is good to have trained yourself in crucifying the flesh with all its passions, lusts, and desires. Christ’s laws are far sharper and more precise than the laws and commandments that people can set for us. Glory to God for His wisdom and foresight!
My earnest desire and prayer is that the rich grace of God and His blessings will be poured out over all the friends and over those we have worked so closely with during conferences and meetings in these years of grace, these friends with whom we have had fellowship in the Spirit. Endure now a short time, and we will for all eternity be together.
