307. The Unity of the Believers

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body.” Eph. 1:18-23. [Emphasis added].

If we can believe this, the walls created by partisan thinking will fall, and unity will come automatically. It is the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places that cause divisions and disagreements. But now Christ has been given to us as the head of the body (the church) above all principalities and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named.

Unbelief leads to disunity. But faith raises us up over all principalities and powers and places us where God has put us.

Every New Year believers (or more correctly those who have a name of being a believer) hold a “unity” meeting. But afterwards they return to their own meetings just as biased. On the cross Jesus made the Jews and the Gentiles one—He made two into one, thereby putting to death the enmity. Eph. 2:16.

All sects and denominations are made one on the cross. If you believe it, it will happen. We have access to the Father through one Spirit. This Spirit is stronger than the spirit that is in the world. By faith we can come directly to the Father and the Son, whose throne is placed high above all principalities and powers. Your own unbelief gives Satan power so that you are not able to rise above all these evil powers. For it is against these powers that God has decreed a “unity” meeting—in His body, the church.

When your flesh is crucified, you can, like Christ, overcome all principalities and powers, and in one Spirit you can come all the way to the Father. You have access to Him by faith. “Speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, Christ; from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies”—over every principality and power.

The people of God set their sights too low. Consequently the spiritual hosts of wickedness gain power, and we are not raised up by faith over all this wretchedness, up to our head, Christ.

Start today believing in this unity and in this victory. Then you will succeed because God has already done His part. Eph. 4:15-16; Col. 1:17, ff.
